I find wire-wrapping soothing and contemplative. I may have a general idea of what I'd like the finished piece to look like, but more often than not, the gentle coaxing of copper or silver wire becomes an adventure, and the result usually a pleasant surprise!
Once the actual wrapping is done, the work is far from finished. As you can see, I am fond of the "antiqued metal" look. I achieve this through oxidizing (tarnishing) the copper, then hand polishing and buffing to bring out the beautiful highlights. Sometimes, I leave the metal in its original bright state. All copper and much of the sterling silver work is sealed with an almost invisible sealant that significantly delays further tarnishing.
